snippet: The Second Test ended in a draw yesterday after Nasser Hussain was once again victim of a controversial umpiring decision and Mike Atherton saved the day with a lengthy but unspectacular 65 not out.
"England wobbled their way to the end of the tightrope," says Colin Bateman in Express Sport Live, "with Atherton holding on to the pole." England were never likely to achieve the 244 runs need in their second innings to beat Pakistan, but ended the day on a respectable 125-5.
Captain Nasser Hussain, who has been a vital force in the England team despite failing to score more than 25 runs in a Test this year, was caught out - even though his bat appeared not to have struck the ball.
"I didn`t know how I was out," said Hussain afterwards. "The ball flicked the pad, so I thought maybe I`d been given lbw. But then Malcolm Ashton, our scorer, came into the dressing-room and said I`d been caught behind."
Hussain has one more chance to reverse his luck against Pakistan in Karachi on Thursday in the Final Test. [... more]
