Camera Captures Damilola`s Last Journey Home

snippet: Police have released pictures, captured by closed-circuit television cameras in Peckham last week, of ten year-old Nigerian schoolboy Damilola Taylor`s final journey home, less than an hour before he died from a fatal stab wound.

"Scotland Yard issued the pictures yesterday in the hope that they will jog memories and bring new witnesses to the youngster`s last journey," says The Mirror. "Police believe many people - children and adults - know who the young killers are, but are frightened to speak out."

"I appeal to everyone: Did you see Damilola talking to someone or walking with them that afternoon?," Detective Superintendent David Dillnutt asked a press conference yesterday. "He was wearing a very distinctive silver coloured puffa-type jacket - lots of people must have seen him."

"We are praying someone will watch this and come forward," says Damilola`s aunt Dorcas Fayemi in The Sun. "It is distressing seeing the pictures knowing only a short while later Damilola was killed. But if it helps catch them it will be worth it."

"Detectives still have no firm idea about the motive for the killing," reports John Twomey The Express. Damilola had complained to his mother about bullying at school bu "Mr Dillnutt said speculation about a range of motives was unhelpful." [... more]
