Arsenal Go Through To Round Two
who: Arsenal
what: Draw 1-1 with Lazio
where: Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Italy
when: Last night
snippet: "Arsenal clinched their ticket to the second round stage of the Champions League with a heroic performance in Rome and a late late equaliser by substitute Robert Pires that stunned Lazio`s Latin American strollers," reports The Evening Standard.

"This was partly provoked by an incident involving Gilles Grimandi and Diego Simeone which left the Argentinian furious and requiring six stitches".
"Video replays appeared to show that Grimandi struck [Simeone] with his right hand, and certainly the Lazio player`s team-mates were incensed," says Russell Kempson in The Times.
"Simeone pulled my shirt and I was just trying to push him away," Grimandi said afterwards. "I caught him with my hand, but I didn`t want to hurt him". [... more]
