snippet: British Nato troops have arrested three terrorists plotting guerilla attacks on Kosovo in the run-up to this weekend`s Yugoslav elections, reports The Independent.
"Acting on intelligence reports," explains Christian Jennings, "the British forces cordoned off the market town of Gracanica, home to one of Kosovo`s largest Serb communities. In an operation lasting several hours, they uncovered a cache of weapons and explosives, and arrested six men; three were later released."
"The counter-terrorist operation, codenamed Ambuscate, involved Nato troops from the Prince of Wales`s Royal Regiment, elements of a Swedish battalion, a Royal Engineers `bomb search` unit, Royal Military Police and United Nations police," says Richard Evans, reporting for The Times. "In all, 300 military and police personnel took part."
"The arrests heightened fears that the regime of President Slobodan Milosevic is trying to disrupt presidential and parliamentary elections in the United Nations-administered province," says The Telegraph`s Lutz Kleveman. [... more]
