Golden Gate Bridge Terror Threat

"We`ve received from several different sources threats that the law enforcement community in general believes are credible that between November 2 and November 7 at rush hour there will be an effort to blow up one of those bridges," said Governor Gray Davis yesterday.
"The warning, the most specific and detailed issued since September 11, exacerbated fears that deadly violence and wholesale disruption of daily life could be imminent on the west coast," says The Financial Times.
"Mr Davis listed the bridges under threat as the Golden Gate and Bay bridges in San Francisco, the Vincent Thomas bridge in Los Angeles, and the Coronado bridge in San Diego," reports The Guardian. "He said it would be up to commuters to decide whether they wanted to cross the bridges during the period in question."
Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency has warned that "a hijacked plane crashing into a nuclear facility could cause a Chernobyl-style disaster," reports The Mirror. "An attack on the Sellafield nuclear fuel plant in Cumbria could kill thousands and render swathes of Britain and Ireland uninhabitable." [... more]
