Race Hate Victim Seeks Asylum From Glasgow

snippet: "The latest victim of the spiralling violence directed against asylum seekers in Glasgow last night said the city was as bad as the regime he had fled in Iran," reports The Scotsman.
"Davoud Rasul Naseri, a 22-year-old Iranian, was stabbed in the back outside his front door by a gang who shouted racist taunts," reports The Times. The attack came just three days after a Kurdish refugee was murdered on the same estate.
"At first I was very happy that I was in a safe country and I can live in comfort and in safety," he tells ITN. "But it didn`t last too long. Regarding what is going on recently, I don`t feel safe any longer. I just feel that I hate Glasgow and I hate the people in Glasgow."
A special Guardian report looks back on the history of the Sighthill estate, "heralded as a brave new world" in 1967 but now "as incarcerating as a prison cell".
"Sighthill is now a sink estate," says the article by Gerard Seenan and Kirsty Scott, "you end up there when you have no other options. It`s where, for at least some of the scheme`s most recent residents, you end up when you dream of any choice but death." [... more]
