Tourists Warned Of Bomb Threat

snippet: "British tourists in Spain were urged yesterday to be on their guard," reports The Telegraph, "after Saturday`s car bomb which injured 13 people and badly damaged two hotels."
British woman Penny Hoskins, a PC with Thames Valley Police, suffered an ankle injury "when 50kg (110lb) of high explosive planted in a stolen Renault 25 was detonated in a car park at the Cala Font hotel in Salou on the Costa Dorada," says The Guardian.
"You could see black smoke and feel the ground vibrating," says a witness. "The blast went through windows and doors and did a hell of a lot of damage."
Basque separatists Eta, which gave a telephone warning about the bomb minutes earlier, issued a statement saying that "holidaymakers should think seriously before coming to Spain," reports The Sun. "They face undesirable consequences if they do."
"We advise visitors to take care," said a Foreign Office statement yesterday, warning of a "heightened level of terrorist activity directed against the tourist industry" which could lead to British tourists "being in the wrong place at the wrong time." [... more]
