Gerrard Says Germans Are Scared
who: Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard
what: Says Liverpool`s victory over Bayern will have worried Germany`s manager
when: Yesterday
snippet: "Steven Greeard reckons Germany boss Rudi Voller is scared of England," says The Sun`s Mark Irwin as the Liverpool midfielder prepares for the vital World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

21-year-old Gerrard, who is determined to be fit to claim his sixth England cap, is "convinced Michael Owen and Emile Heskey have given Voller the jitters" when the UEFA Cup holders beat Champions` League winners Bayern Munich in the European Super Cup last Friday.

"They will be more worried about this team than they were before the game at Wembley last year," Gerrard told the press. "We`re a lot stronger now and we`re playing much better. "But England coach Eriksson will resist that," says The Mirror, "as Gerrard is so crucial in the heart of midfield, particularly as that is the area the Germans plan to outnumber England." The Guardian`s Michael Walker reckons Nick Barmby and Steve McManaman "would be the most obvious right-sided replacements for Beckham".
