Huntley In Court Tomorrow

snippet: "The man charged with the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman is to face court tomorrow for the first time," reports Sky News today. "A large security operation will be in place when Ian Huntley appears before magistrates on charges of killing the two 10-year-old girls."

The 28 year-old former caretaker of Soham Village College will be transferred from Rampton hospital to appear at Peterborough magistrates` Court at 10am, when prosecutors will confirm his name and the charges laid against him, says The Times. "The hearing comes even though doctors at Rampton, a secure medical facility in Nottinghamshire, have not yet announced whether they think Mr Huntley is fit to stand trial."

Best friends Holly and Jessica went missing in Soham, Cambridgeshire, on August 4th and their bodies were found at a Suffolk beauty spot 13 days later, recalls the BBC.

"An angry crowd gathered outside the court when Maxine Carr, his girlfriend, appeared on a charge of perverting the course of justice," recalls The Telegraph. As a result of the disturbance, authorities decided that the 25 year-old should make her second court appearance, on August 29th, via video link from Holloway women`s prison.

Meanwhile, The Guardian reports today that convicted child killer Mary Bell, who murdered two small boys in December 1968 when she was just eleven years old, is to seek a permanent order at the high court next week to ensure anonymity for herself and her daughter. [... more]
