Pakistan To Blame For Temple Massacre Says Indian Minister

snippet: Indian commandos have ended a siege by gunmen in a Hindu temple in Gujarat which killed 29 people and injured more than 70, reports The Financial Times. "Commandos broke into the temple complex in the west Indian state and killed the three gunmen after a fierce overnight gun battle."
"Until the commando assault, the attackers had controlled part of the temple complex," reports The Independent`s Phil Reeves from Delhi, "and had been trading fire with the troops and snipers had surrounded them. A police official said that up to 50 people had been taken hostage."
The attack coincided with the closing of polls in the Kashmir election but "the temple at Gandhinagar, the administrative capital of Gujarat state, is far from the Muslim-dominated Kashmir," says The Scotsman. The Indian home minister, Lal Krishna Advani, blamed "enemies of the country", but there is little doubt to whom he was referring.
Mr Advani "pointed the finger of blame at Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan`s president," writes Edna Fernandes in The FT, "for making a speech at the UN about violence against Muslims during the Gujarat riots earlier this year." [... more]
