Abortion Vigilante Executed

"At 6.08pm - eight minutes after a combination of three sedatives and lethal drugs were administered - Hill, who was married with three children, was declared dead by two doctors," says The Independent. "He was the first person in the US to be executed for an anti-abortion killing."
"Some 300 law enforcement officers were drafted in to stand guard outside the prison in case of trouble, but the execution passed off peacefully," says the BBC`s Fergal Parkinson from outside the prison.
Hill shot and killed Dr John Britton, 69, and his driver-bodyguard, James Barrett, 74, a retired air force lieutenant colonel, outside a Pensacola abortion clinic in July 1994, recalls The Scotsman`s Jacqui Goddard.
