"I wanted to kill as many women as I thought were prostitutes as I possibly could," Ridgway told police in a confession read aloud by prosecutors in the King County courthouse in downtown Seattle. "I killed so many women I have a hard time keeping them straight." "Ridgway told police he chose hookers believing he could kill as many as he wanted without getting caught," reports The Sun. The truck driver was first arrested in connection with the murders in 1984 but managed to pass a lie-detector test by "just relaxing". He was finally caught in 2001 "when a DNA sample taken 14 years earlier was eventually matched with evidence found on one of his victims," explains The Telegraph.
