Barman May Be Serial Killer
who: Spanish police
what: Says British barman has confessed to two murders
where: Spain
when: Yesterday
snippet: "The British barman who has admitted killing two Spanish girls was unmasked yesterday as a convicted serial sex beast dubbed The Strangler," says The Sun. "Police DNA tests revealed he is Tony Bromwich, 37, who was caged for ten years in Britain for terrifying assaults on seven women."
Tony King, "who has lived in Spain for six years, confessed after DNA samples taken from his home matched samples recovered from the scene of the crimes in southern Spain," says Sky News.
"Mr King, originally from London, has been interviewed about the murders of 17-year-old Sonia Carabantes last month and 19-year-old Rocio Wanninkhof in 1999," says the BBC. "He was ordered to remain in jail on Sunday by a Spanish judge while police continue investigations."
King "could be linked to 12 killings in Britain stretching back 16 years," says The Mirror, which says he has links to known paedophiles and "boasted that he could never return to the UK because he had been `very, very naughty` and had forged his driving licence, passport and other documentation".
In an unrelated story, The Independent reports that thanks to "recent advances in forensic science analysis", police are exprriencing an "astonishing" 84 per cent success rate in obtaining the DNA of suspected rapists in unsolved cases dating back as far as 1987. [... more]
