Huntley`s 21 Admissions
who: Suspected killer Ian Huntley
what: To make 21 admissions as Soham murder trial continues
where: The Old Bailey, LONDON
when: Today
snippet: "Ian Huntley cut off the clothes of the Soham schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman as their bodies lay in a remote ditch," reports The Scotsman after the alleged killer`s lawyer, Stephen Coward QC, told a jury at the Old Bailey in the first of a series of "admissions" which will be further revealed to them today.

"In a day devoted to detailed, and often harrowing, forensics evidence, the trial heard about items found in the hangar at Soham Village College, and Huntley`s red Ford Fiesta," says Sky News. The former caretaker denies murdering the 10-year-old girls in August last year but he has admitted conspiring to pervert the course of justice. "The court has already been told that Huntley is unlikely to dispute that Holly and Jessica, both 10, died in his house in Soham, Cambs, when he was alone with them," says The Telegraph.

Forensic scientist Peter Lamb told the court that "he had found 154 fibre transfers from the girls` clothing to items taken from Mr Huntley`s home and car, and vice versa," reports The Guardian. "Of these, 49 matching either Holly`s or Jessica`s shirts were found on items in the house or car, while 39 matching the house and car were found on Jessica`s shirt and 38 on Holly`s top."

"Across the plasma screens around the Old Bailey`s court Number One, a small bra and trainers were flashed up to show their varying levels of charring and where they had been cut," reports The Independent`s Terri Judd. "A small bracelet bearing a picture of a dolphin and a half-finished pack of mints were in Jessica`s tracksuit pocket."

Elsewhere, The Telegraph reports that "detectives hunting for the killer of the schoolgirl Jodi Jones have submitted a report to the procurator fiscal naming her boyfriend as the sole suspect". [... more]
