Late Strike Sends Chelsea to Semis

Fulham sub Elvis Hammond "appeared to have turned the tie on its head when he came off the bench to replace skipper Andy Cole and set up Brian McBride to equalise with his first touch," reports The Mirror`s Martin Lipton. "That cancelled out Damien Duff`s opener, a huge deflection off Ian Pearce which gave Van der Sar no chance."
But 12 minutes after being substituted for Duff and with two minutes remaining, van der Sar "seemed to go down too early" when Lampard successfully made his move to grab his fourth goal of the season, says The Telegraph.
Elsewhere, the Championship`s sole remaining representative, Watford, won their place in the semis by beating Premiership Portsmouth 3-0 at Vicarage Road thtnks to two goals by Heidar Helguson and a third by Bruce Dyer to spark ironic cries of "There`s only one Harry Redknapp" from the Watford fans, according to The Guardian`s spectator, Matt Scott.
