snippet: "Little more than nine months after Sir Clive Woodward guided his country to World Cup glory in the southern hemisphere," says The Guardian, "he will start a new footballing life on the south coast following his shock decision to resign as England`s rugby coach."
"The Southampton chairman, Rupert Lowe, a friend of Woodward, will put a proposal to his board today that the England head coach might get involved in some sort of ad-hoc capacity," says The Telegraph`s Mick Cleary, "while he works his way through his various football coaching examinations."
Sir Clive is nominally still coach of the England rugby union team, says The Independent`s Chris Hewett, but yesterday spent nine hours with chairman of the RFU management board Graeme Cattermole and chief executive Francis Baron "hammering out the fine detail of his departure" - talks which will continue today.
"It is believed that a rift has grown between the coach and the RFU over the release of players from their clubs for England training," explains the BBC, "and that Woodward`s relationship with senior figures within the game is beyond repair." [... more]
