Beckham Back In Eight Days

Beckham received the injury when he collided with Wales full-back Ben Thatcher during Saturday`s 2-0 win at Old Trafford. The foul "understandably drew much criticism," comments The Telegraph`s Henry Winter, "but, from England`s perspective, it allowed him to wipe his disciplinary slate clean. His second yellow card of the qualifying campaign, which brought a ban for Baku, was effectively rendered meaningless as injury prevents him travelling anyway."

However, The Sun says "fuming real Madrid bosses" will demand that Beckham get back to light training the day after tomorrow in time to play Dinamo Kiev in eight days. And meanwhile his extra-marital activities are in the spotlight again as 22 year-old beautician Dannielle Heath claims she had sex with him in Madrid in August and again two weeks ago.

Elsewhere in World Cup qualification news, Scotland manager Berti Vogts continues to be borrowed time after losing 0-1 at home to Norway in Group 5, Northern Ireland held Azerbaijan to a 0-0 draw in Baku in Group 6, as did the Republic of Ireland, who travelled to France on Saturday for their Group 4 tie.
