United Have Shot At Glory
who: Manchester United
what: Beat Newcastle United 1-3
where: St James` Park, NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
when: Yesterday
snippet: Manchester United beat Newcastle United by three goals to one in yesterday`s Premiership clash at St James` Park in which striker Wayne Rooney scored twice "to keep alive Manchester United`s fading hopes of winning the Premiership," says the BBC.
Rooney opened the scoring early on but Newcastle`s Alan Shearer made it 1-1 in the 71st minute. Later, Wayne Rooney claimed that yesterday`s win could be enough to keep United "in the Championship race".
"We are still good enough," he says, quoted in The Sun. "We have definitely got the quality. Sure, it’s going to be a difficult job to catch the top two — but you can never write us off. The one thing we always do in our dressing room is stick in there. We believe in ourselves because of the talent we’ve got." [... more]
