The Mirror`s David Anderson blames Liverpool `keeper Jerzy Dudek for making "a hash of Matt Taylor’s cross to present Lomana LuaLua with a simple header to cancel out Steven Gerrard’s spectacular opener".

But The Telegraph`s David Miller suggests the flaws are more fundamental. "Liverpool spent most of the first 45 minutes camped in Portsmouth`s half of the field, yet seldom had a clear sight of the goal," he writes this morning. "It is an experience currently not that new to them: here are a team who have lost the attacking verve that after so many years has distinguished this club."

"Dietmar Hamann and Harry Kewell, both experienced internationals, were guilty of misses," says The Evening Standard`s website, thisislondon.com, "and the dropped points mean Liverpool`s case for a place in next season`s Champions League looks far from convincing." [... more]
