snippet: Tony Christie has succeeded where all the year`s other chart-topping singles have failed and spent a third week at Number One. We all know that sales of singles are in decline compared to the good old days, but not so for this particular single - James Masterton, writing for Yahoo! Launch, notes that `(Is This The Way To) Amarillo` sold more copies in its first week of release this year than it did in its entire chart run in 1971.

There`s a new entry at Two for Elvis Presley`s `(You`re The) Devil In Disguise` - the 13th Elvis reissue of 2005, which notably breaks the record for most UK chart singles in a year, previously held by The Wedding Present, who released 12 singles - one per month - in 1992.

Mario`s `Let Me Love You` slips from Two to Three and there are new entries at Four for Mariah Carey with `It`s Like That` and at Six for press darling Kylie Minogue with `Giving You Up`. At the back end of the Top Ten there are new ones at Nine for Lemar`s `Time to Grow` and at Ten for Rachel Stevens`s `Negotiate With Love`, while Morrissey and Studio B narrowly miss out at 11 and 12 respectively.

Not much change over on the album chart. Tony Christie`s Definitive Collection is still at the top and the only new entry in the Top Ten comes from New Order with their eighth studio album, Waiting for the Sirens` Call, at Five. [... more]
