snippet: The 34 year-old Londoner is something of a surprise front-runner given that she is a painter who paints things that "looked almost exactly like" what they are supposed to be, says The Telegraph`s Ben Fenton, although the subject of the paintings he is referring to is, rather less conventional: her own bottom. "Her rivals are Darren Almond, 34, from London, Jim Lambie, 41, and Simon Starling, 38, both from Glasgow," says The Guardian. Anyone concerned that the four Turner judges have gone soft will be glad to know that the other artists can be described as "a collagist who customises bicycles, a photographic artist who films digital clocks, and a musician who works with plastic bags, wool and safety pins".
