Mike Leigh`s abortion drama Vera Drake won an impressive 11 BAFTA nominations, including Best Film, Best British Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actress. In other movie-related newspaper coverage, The Sun says Clive Owen`s Closer co-star Jude Law is "considering marrying Sienna Miller on the romantic island of Fiji"; The Mirror says George Clooney "was left in `excruciating pain` after doctors failed to spot a ruptured disc in his spine"; The Sun says there`s an X Files movie in the pipeline while the BBC reports that its star, Gillian Anderson, has married her long-term partner, English documentary maker Julian Ozanne; and an online poll by the BBC named Sir Sean Connery as the Briton with the "most pleasant" speaking voice. In reviews, James Christopher of The Times implores you to see Jean-Pierre Jeunet`s "inspiring" First World War romance, A Very Long Engagement, starring Audrey Tautou, while Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian favours Jamie Foxx`s "virtuoso performance" as Ray Charles in Ray, who was rewarded with the Golden Globe for Best Actor at the weekend.
