Fellow soldier Gary Bartlam was earlier sentenced to 18 months and Darren Larkin was also awaiting sentence on Friday. Both had pleaded guilty. A report in Thursday`s Times revealed that 18 more British troops are due to be charged with similar offences. In other Iraq news, an article by Washington correspondent Rupert Cornwell in Thursday`s Independent says William "Bucky" Bush is profiting handsomely from the war, sitting as he does on the board of Engineered Support Systems Incorporated (ESSI), a major supplier to the Pentagon and supplier of equipment to the US military in Iraq; Wednesday`s Guardian revealed that attorney general Lord Goldsmith "warned Tony Blair in a document on March 7 2003 that the use of force against Iraq could be illegal"; the BBC says Daawa Party chief Ibrahim Jaafari is the front-runner for the job of Iraqi prime minister; and finally, on Thursday ten people were killed in Saddam Hussein`s home town Tikrit when a suicide bomber attacked a police station.
