snippet: BBC bosses have turned to the conciliation service ACAS to negotiate with representatives from BECTU (Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union), the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Amicus over their concerns about the massive job losses at the Corporation. "The unions estimated that between 13,000 and 15,000 employees took part in Monday`s strike," says The Independent, "while the BBC put the total at a rather lower 38 per cent of its 27,000 strong workforce."
