The Tonight Show presenter, "who earns an estimated $27 million a year," had a few telephone conversations with Jackson`s accuser, Gavin Arvizo, who was in hospital suffering from cancer. The boy claimed Leno was his "hero", but Leno said the boy sounded "a little scripted" and was suspicious of his motives. The defence has since rested its case and the 46-year-old singer was not called upon to testify against the allegations that he molested the boy, plied him with alcohol and kidnapped his family. "A number of high-profile names mentioned by the defence at the beginning of the trial were also spared a court appearance," says the BBC. "They include Elizabeth Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and basketball player Kobe Bryant. The trial now enters the rebuttal stage - which allows both sides to call more witnesses to clarify certain issues." [... more]
